Practice Amps

Do you need an amp that won’t wake the neighbours? Practice amps are perfect for beginners or those who just need a simple solution to shred in their downtime. We stock everything from simple plug-and-play amps to feature-packed modellers that make practice more fun than ever. Check out our selection of Cort amplifiers [LINK] for a high quality, yet affordable, practice option.

Valve Amps

Valve amps are the brick-and-mortar of all your favourite rock songs. With rich, dynamic tones and a natural overdrive, nothing beats a valve amp. Ideal for gigging musicians and tone purists, these amps deliver a warm, responsive sound that gets better the louder you play.

Solid-state Amps

Solid-state amps are reliable, durable, and perfect for players who want great tone without valve maintenance. Whether you’re after clean tones, punchy distortion, or an all-in-one amp with built-in effects, we’ve got options from iconic brands. The best thing about solid-state amps is that they are set up for gigging. They are ready to rock when you are.

Guitar Cabinets

A good cab is just as important as the amp itself. Whether you need a 1×12 for home use or a 4×12 to shake the stage, we stock a variety of speaker cabinets to suit different playing styles. Match your head with a high-quality cab from Marshall for the ultimate rig.

FAQs: Guitar Amps

For home use, a guitar amp between 5-20 watts is ideal. A small practice amp, either solid-state or modelling, provides good sound at low volumes. If you want to play quietly, look for amps with headphone outputs or built-in attenuation to reduce power without losing tone.

Choose your amp size based on where you’ll play. For home use, 5-20W is enough. For rehearsals or small gigs, 30-50W works well. Larger venues usually need 50W or more, especially for valve amps. We’d recommend talking to a member of our friendly team to assess your situation and find the perfect amp for you. Pop in the shop, or contact us.

For live gigs, amp size depends on the venue. Small gigs work with 30-50W, while larger stages may need 50-100W, especially for valve amps. Many venues mic up amps, so even a lower-wattage amp can work if it has the right tone and projection.
