The year is 1900. Established musical duo Barnes and Mullins have enjoyed some success as entertainers in Victorian England, but now look to a different venture: supplying artists and musicians with the finest instruments from across the globe. Moving from Dorset to their new premises of Rathbone Place, London, the story of Rathbone guitars is underway.

Initially specialising in banjos and mandolins, as the most popular fretted instruments of their day, the attention of the duo was soon turned to the acoustic guitar as its popularity increased. As a testament to their endurance and quality, some of these early Barnes and Mullins acoustics are still in circulation today - being played over a century after they were constructed. Today, Rathbone is still a proudly British company and offers a range of beautiful guitars at a wallet-friendly price.
