Why go west when you can head east with a beautiful, let’s say, 16″ semi hollowbody from Eastman designed for performance wherever you are in the world, whichever cream stage you are on. Before we go on, maybe just pop over to our YouTube Channel at Guitar Village for a quick Eastman peek at what is to come. Long Atlantic voyage, let’s have none of that, Eastman are available, here and present at the shop and have been forever it seems, vintage looking instruments, finely assembled, made in the 21st century for players in the here and now that expect the best but who love the visual references from the past with the play wear to match.
For example, lets take a look at the Eastman T64/v in Antique Goldburst, what a great looking guitar. The first impression you have when you first pick up this instrument is the weight, our example here is about 8.7lbs which feels well balanced and has the vintage feel partially enabled by the matt textured appearance of the lacquer, its not a shiny and bright guitar by any means, it’s understated and subtle, feels pre-owned perhaps and is just superb, especially after an unplugged strum for the first time, you can almost anticipate what it’s going to sound like before you even plug in, but plug in you must.
You conjure your own tale, each guitar, with a bone nut, has its own aged finish, with traditional C shaped necks, guitars for you to explain away with stories of on the road antics, or not, as the case may be. No aging, no problem, we have NOS finishes too, they’re here and look as intact as you would expect from a non-aged guitar. The sustain on these instruments is immense with a highly characteristic bold voicing and presence enabled by either Lollar Imperial humbucker pickups or Seymour Duncan Antiquities – PAF inspired for sure.
For those, let’s face it, all of us, who have album / artist influences harking back decades, the Eastman semi hollowbody range incorporate impressive guitar components to partially enable those sounds, such as Bigsby tremolos and tuners by Gotoh, all top tier parts to enhance and sustain performance whether simply at home, on a big stage or in front of a select few at an intimate, local rooftop gig.
