This GUITAR OF THE MONTH is plucked from the very top end of the Taylor tree. The Presentation Series showcases the very finest woods and Taylor’s highest level of craftsmanship. The Taylor PS14ce is a Grand Auditorium (14) size cutaway electro (ce) boasting a flawless premium Sitka spruce top with eye-catching striped Macassar ebony back and sides. The exotic ebony is accented again on the back of the headstock. A hand-carved ebony armrest provides playing comfort and a sleek contoured profile.
Another feature that makes this guitar really pop is the intricate inlay work made from colourful paua shell. The body (top and back), neck, sound hole and headstock are all edged, the bridge, bridge pins and headstock are inlayed, and the centrepiece, of course, is the exquisite Nouveau vine fretboard inlay. Whereas some highly-decorated guitars can overload the senses and appear garish, the Taylor Presentation Series remains tasteful by injecting their standard clean design with just the right amount of class.
The combination of quality spruce and ebony produces a bold tone with bright responsive highs and deep sustaining lows. Taylor’s Expression System 2 (ES2), a re-imagined piezo pickup design, perfectly transmits the guitars dynamics and nuances through an acoustic amp or PA system for easy amplification or recording.
