The Maton AP5 Pro Pickup has been held in the highest regard for over a decade by players all over the world. It was with this in mind that we began development of its successor - The AP5 Pro.

After years in development and countless iterations, the new Maton AP5 Pro Acoustic pick up system is finally here.

The AP5 Pro now features Separate Microphone and Piezo input controls allow for blending of both microphone and piezo levels prior to sending the actively combined signals through to the tone circuits and master volume. Highly selective cardioid microphone system allows for much greater microphone level before feedback in live environments. This newly upgraded microphone is direct mounted to the preamp casing via an adjustable arm, which permits easy final tweaking of microphone position to suit the individual artists style.

Tighter component packing via miniature surface mount components allows the complete preamp to be placed on one PCB, so the complete system is smaller and less prone to hum and noise pickup. The greater rigidity of this smaller PCB means that it is less prone to develop problems with aging, and because it is bolted into position in the casing, the whole assembly is unlikely to develop rattles with the constant movement and shipping expected of performing musicians instrument.

The entire audio path has been scoured of electrolytic capacitors as these are known to effect high-quality audio. As a result the sound of the AP5 Pro is much cleaner, with less fur in the sound and does not suffer from tonal quality degradation with time.

All controls are now at your fingertips, and their resistance curves have been specially designed and manufactured expressly for the AP5 Pro. As a result, the Bass, Treble and MID are now much more linear in feel. The EQ (Mid Sweep) now goes down much lower and has a much wider frequency band ( 600Hz to 2.4kHz ) to give greater control when targeting your specific sound.

Battery choice is 2 x AA batteries, why? - energy density. 2 x AA batteries have almost twice the stored energy of a 9 volt for approximately the same space requirement, therefore giving the performer a much longer operational life before battery change.

The AP5 Pro also has improved battery terminals - both terminals are identical and now made from phosphor bronze - the same material as used in ships propellers - it is extremely corrosion resistant, so should the batteries develop a leak, the terminals can be easily cleaned to restore them to as new operation.

The entire AP5 Pro system has been designed with easy maintenance in mind. All connectors are gold-plated RJ11 (telephone type) click-in connectors, from the pickup right through to the output jack. If any replacement parts are required, they can be easily fitted without needing special tools, and the plugs are locked-in so that they cannot work loose with time and the vibration of travel.

The AP5 Pro piezo pickup has also undergone transformation. The pickup channel material is now made from 6061 T6 alloy - super light, super strong, the same alloy used in rock-climbers crampons & fittings. The updated channel assembly now has a new, more rigid, gold-plated PCB allowing smoother sound, improved detail and sharper transients than ever before.

From June the 1st, 2013, the new Maton AP5 Pro Pickup will replace the APMic and AP5 in all models with the exception of the Minis, Standard performer and the EM225.

At A Glance.

2/ more linear feel to the controls,

As soon as a guitar is sold it will be fully set-up to ensure it is playing great right out of the box. It will then go through an inspection checklist and is checked again for quality and playability by two more members of staff. Let us know any preferred setup requirements and we will be happy to oblige!

Guarantee

All new products come with a 12 month warranty as standard. Some products will come with an extended manufacturer’s warranty - these will be included with the product and will usually need to be activated after purchase via the manufacturer’s website. Ex Demo products will also come with a 12 month warranty. Pre-owned products come with a 3 month warranty.

Real time stock levels

Fed up with websites advertising guitar that they don’t actually have? So are we! The Guitar Village website is updated in real-time, so that means the second we sell out of a guitar the website will say ‘out of stock’. If it says ‘In Stock’, rest assured we do actually have it in stock and ready to go!

Actual image photography

We don’t want you to have any nasty surprises when you receive a guitar from us so we do our own photography in-house.

Any high-end guitar with a figured finish or unique features will have its own images. If you see “✓ Actual product in photograph(s)” next to the product listing, this will be the actual item you receive.

Any guitar priced under £2000 with an opaque/block finish, or lightly figured woods may have an example image of the guitar.

Click & collect

Don’t fancy the painful wait at home for the courier to deliver your new toy?

If you’re not a million miles away not come in and collect it from the shop? All you need to do it select “Collect from store” at the checkout, pay in full online then pop in with proof of purchase, along with some photo ID* and you can take it away right then and there!

*Photo ID must be a valid passport or driving license.

Ex Demo/New Old Stock Products

Occasionally we list items as ‘Ex Demo’ or ‘New Old Stock’. These are new but may not necessarily be in perfect condition and could have had minor repairs, marks, scratches and/or other defects.

These will be fully described and discounted accordingly.

At Guitar Village we're committed to offering you the very best shopping experience possible. We strive to provide you with an unmatched choice of guitars as well as our award-winning friendly customer service, combined with the best prices in the UK. Occasionally the odd price pops up a little cheaper somewhere else. We don't want any of our customers to ever have to decide between our high level of service and a lower price, so we will always endeavour to price match our UK competitors.

To qualify for a price match it must be:

  • From an official authorised dealer,
  • Identical to the product we are selling (model, colour, specs),
  • In stock and ready to ship,
  • Clearly advertised at the cheaper price on their website (not a price quoted over the phone),
  • An outright purchase price, not including finance, part exchange or any other offer.

Usually these cheaper prices are offered by online-only warehouse retailers with little overheads and a "stack 'em high, sell 'em cheap" philosophy, sacrificing the customer service that's essential to back-up any purchase.

When you buy from Guitar Village you can rest assured that your item will be:

  • In stock if the website says it is,
  • Guitars fully setup to any given requirements by one of our full time in-house guitar techs prior to dispatch,
  • Triple checked through our extensive quality control,
  • Safely and securely packaged, then dispatched using UPS - fully tracked and insured,
  • Full after-sales customer support.
