The Roger Mayer 456HD 500 Series is an analogue wave shaping processor designed to emulate the desirable qualities of tape recording now with transformer balanced inputs and outputs.

User manual available here.

The 456HD® Analogue Wave Shaping Process represents an innovative approach to experiencing modern dynamic and harmonic control in real time without any latency. This technology draws inspiration from the sought-after characteristics of tape recordings, accurately reproducing their dynamic compression and harmonic properties. Its purpose is to correct and enhance both pre- and post-digital recordings. Developed in collaboration with leading producers and engineers, the process has garnered significant critical acclaim and has already been utilized on numerous records by prominent artists.

It is widely acknowledged that this process is a significant advancement in the field and should not be considered merely another tape emulator. Instead, it introduces a considerably more refined method for real-time dynamic control, and its performance surpasses that of any tape recorder previously manufactured. The 456 is now establishing a new standard of excellence in audio processing.

The 456HD® process has received high praise from many of the world's leading record producers and engineers and is currently employed in primary tracking, remixing, and mastering applications. Notably, the MPG Awards 2019 recognized several RM users with nominations for top producer, top recording engineer, and top mastering engineer, further highlighting the impact and recognition of this technology within the professional audio community.

TRANSFORMER BALANCED INPUT AND OUTPUT

Our custom hand-wound ferrite wideband transformers are manufactured in-house by Roger Mayer. These transformers are designed to provide exceptional wideband tonal transparency, offering superior performance compared to electronic balancing circuits.

These are the same high-quality transformers utilized in our renowned Classic RM58 Limiter, Microphone Pre-Amplifiers, and the new Rack Mounted 2U Version of the 456HD Stereo. The inclusion of true balanced transformer inputs and outputs allows this unit to be seamlessly integrated into a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) hard insert without any signal degradation or loss.

It's important to note that modern electronically balanced inputs are, in fact, differential inputs. This design can sometimes lead to signal level loss issues when dealing with unbalanced sources. By implementing both balanced input and output transformers, an optimal and reliable interface is achieved within your signal processing chain, ensuring signal integrity and performance.

Once back we will refund (minus restocking charge) or exchange the item if preferred. Online purchases only.

Fully setup & triple checked quality control

We have in-house guitar technicians here at Guitar Village, so that means all guitars in stock are constantly checked and maintained for optimum playability.

As soon as a guitar is sold it will be fully set-up to ensure it is playing great right out of the box. It will then go through an inspection checklist and is checked again for quality and playability by two more members of staff. Let us know any preferred setup requirements and we will be happy to oblige!

Guarantee

All new products come with a 12 month warranty as standard. Some products will come with an extended manufacturer’s warranty - these will be included with the product and will usually need to be activated after purchase via the manufacturer’s website. Ex Demo products will also come with a 12 month warranty. Pre-owned products come with a 3 month warranty.

Real time stock levels

Fed up with websites advertising guitar that they don’t actually have? So are we! The Guitar Village website is updated in real-time, so that means the second we sell out of a guitar the website will say ‘out of stock’. If it says ‘In Stock’, rest assured we do actually have it in stock and ready to go!

Actual image photography

We don’t want you to have any nasty surprises when you receive a guitar from us so we do our own photography in-house.

Any high-end guitar with a figured finish or unique features will have its own images. If you see “✓ Actual product in photograph(s)” next to the product listing, this will be the actual item you receive.

Any guitar priced under £2000 with an opaque/block finish, or lightly figured woods may have an example image of the guitar.

Click & collect

Don’t fancy the painful wait at home for the courier to deliver your new toy?

If you’re not a million miles away not come in and collect it from the shop? All you need to do it select “Collect from store” at the checkout, pay in full online then pop in with proof of purchase, along with some photo ID* and you can take it away right then and there!

*Photo ID must be a valid passport or driving license.

Ex Demo/New Old Stock Products

Occasionally we list items as ‘Ex Demo’ or ‘New Old Stock’. These are new but may not necessarily be in perfect condition and could have had minor repairs, marks, scratches and/or other defects.

These will be fully described and discounted accordingly.

At Guitar Village we're committed to offering you the very best shopping experience possible. We strive to provide you with an unmatched choice of guitars as well as our award-winning friendly customer service, combined with the best prices in the UK. Occasionally the odd price pops up a little cheaper somewhere else. We don't want any of our customers to ever have to decide between our high level of service and a lower price, so we will always endeavour to price match our UK competitors.

To qualify for a price match it must be:

  • From an official authorised dealer,
  • Identical to the product we are selling (model, colour, specs),
  • In stock and ready to ship,
  • Clearly advertised at the cheaper price on their website (not a price quoted over the phone),
  • An outright purchase price, not including finance, part exchange or any other offer.

Usually these cheaper prices are offered by online-only warehouse retailers with little overheads and a "stack 'em high, sell 'em cheap" philosophy, sacrificing the customer service that's essential to back-up any purchase.

When you buy from Guitar Village you can rest assured that your item will be:

  • In stock if the website says it is,
  • Guitars fully setup to any given requirements by one of our full time in-house guitar techs prior to dispatch,
  • Triple checked through our extensive quality control,
  • Safely and securely packaged, then dispatched using UPS - fully tracked and insured,
  • Full after-sales customer support.
