The Fender Telecaster continues to play an extremely valuable role in the guitar industry and has never rested on its reputation for possessing not only a great voice but looks so cool it could freeze. The simplicity of the instrument belies its tonal sophistication making an enhanced classic Fender sound contribution regardless of which pickup configuration your telecaster has, what colour it's in and, whether or not, your favourite telecaster has a rosewood neck or maple. The Fender Telecaster, a guitar for all.
The "Black Guard Blonde" Telecaster is one of the most famous and recognised electric guitars to date, used by pretty much everyone who is worth mentioning in the musical world. In the summer of '51 Fender decided to drop the 'Nocaster' moniker, and decided on the name 'Telecaster'. The set-up was similar to its three predecessors (Esquire, Broadcaster and the aforementioned Nocaster), slab body with a single-cutaway, 3-saddle bridge, strings anchoring through the body and a 3-way pickup switch with two controls.
Original '52 Tele's are outrageously collectable, depending on condition and how true they are to their original form can fetch up to £30,000 a piece. The Fender Custom Shop offers a much, much cheaper alternative but doesn't scrimp on the sheer quality and class involved to pull off one of these guitars.
The Fender Telecaster remains one of the most popular and desirable models in the Fender brochure. The appetite for great looking, modern or period correct spec, cosmetically re-imagined guitars for today's players of the Telecaster continues to propel Fender to produce out of this world contemporary examples for enthusiasts, collectors and players.
