Boss RC-1 Loop Station
Boss' RC Looper series has been at the forefront of the looping world since the RC-20 was introduced back in the early 2000's, and now they've released a brand new model that strips it back to basics and is all about the looping. The RC-1 is perfect for anyone who is thinking of having a go with looping their instrument, but is on a bit of a budget and doesn't want hundreds of lights and dials making things even more confusing. It features a newly designed innovative loop indicator which consists of a 24-segment LED circular display, which helps the player determine the status of the Rec/Overdub/Play modes. The stereo in/out jacks allow the user to plug any stereo instrument into the looper, such as a keyboard or synthesizer and the overall capacity of the pedal can hold up to 12 minutes of stereo recording time. Whilst this pedal may not be suited for a full 2 hour set at Wembley Stadium, it will suit anyone who is new to looping looking to get their head around it. Many advanced players and teachers will testify that learning your modes and scales is made all the more easier when it's done alongside a backing track. A loop pedal not only does this, but means you can lay down your own chord progressions down which does wonders for both your rhythm and lead playing in the early stages.
